About Antonio
Antonio Sommers was born in Panama at the end of WWII. His father was a photographer; his mother a painter and sculptor. He spent his childhood making things: model airplanes, rockets, radios and sometimes, art. He has always painted while doing many other things to earn a living. His feelings about his country and its politics were changed forever when he served as a Marine in Viet Nam in 1968. He earned a BA from the School of Expressive Arts at Sonoma State University in 1976. He was a Visual Effects Artist at Industrial Light and Magic from 1988 to 2006. From 2006 to 2010 he taught drawing at Expression College for Digital Arts. In 2010 he returned to painting full time.
